About Us

The Women and the Law Section of the State Bar of Texas helps women lawyers stay informed of issues affecting them in their practices and lives. We offer mentoring by women lawyers, for women lawyers, as well as useful CLE during the State Bar’s Annual Meeting in June. The section produces a semi-annual newsletter with informative and timely articles, book reviews, and updates on our members. We also honor those women who have come before us and those who strive to make the legal community better for all. This recognition is through our awards: the Sarah T. Hughes Women Lawyers of Achievement Award and our Louise B. Raggio Award (formerly the Ma'at Justice Award). The section also monitors the State Bar’s efforts and progress in achieving its diversity goals.
